Dialing-in Outin Nano Clone KFG100-001

My clone doesn't have a boiler but I realized it is not essential. I just ordered 12 V 120 W boiler sticks. Can use a car cigarette lighter socket. At home, more economical to use gas stove to boil water.

In front are the setup for using Outin Nano Clone,  KFG100-001 to brew coffee. The small glass is used to tamp. The grinder is a USB grinder.

Paper Filter on top. The coffee gets WDT treatment and tamped lightly with a small glass. The Outin Nano scope is not provided. 8 g of medium roast Brazil Santos coffee. 30 g out.

Paper Filter taken out. The taste of coffee is good and there is some Creme.

The biggest problem was the leaks when the grind size is too small or the dose is too high, above 14 g.

After watching YouTube reviewers, they recommend from 5-8 g of coffee only.

I was able to use an espresso fine grain that I used to dial-in the Dessini CM-14 electric espresso machine using 8 g. Probably the teflon sealing tape did the trick, apart from making it easy to unscrew the container.

A more advanced version with removable battery and cup stand.

Using Starbucks Dolce Gusto Capuccino and Colombia Nespresso worked well using the recommended setting but I used a weighing machine.

The volume indicator is not accurate, need to calibrate. When water is less than 30 ml, the pump is not efficient so better subtract 30 ml from the volume indicator of the hot water chamber.

Using reusable capsules, the best is to use the Nespresso. Sealpod may be the best but too expensive. I ordered it's clone and its Waycap clones.

After watching the Nespresso reusable capsules, I realized, we can use only 4 g and no hard tamping. Hard tamping allowed 5 g of medium roast coffee powder but the pump leaks badly and the output is too slow.

A tutorial on the mistakes in using reusable capsules is also useful.

Reusable Dolce Gusto capsules are not useful but allowed more possibilities with alternative output filters. My plastic Dolce Gusto reusable capsule only has holes at the edge whereas the Outin Nano uses the centre to pierce and pump water.

A good video on the workings of the Dolce Gusto vs Nespresso capsules is below:

A difficulty that I faced was in opening the containers for the Outin Nano capsules. Despite tightening hard, water still leaks but it made it difficult to open the screws especially when hot.

The stuck body can be solved by cooling down but it took too long. I used soap to lubricate the threads and it helped a little bit. The best solution is just to pump cold water once. Then it became easy to open the containers. When soap and pumping cold water failed, I put the body inside a freezer. In just a few seconds, I can dismantle the containers from the pump.

The easiest and most reliable solution is just to use teflon sealing tapes wrapped around the thread. The teflon sealing tape lasts and opening the container is possible even when it is still hot.

The coffee powder basket is harder to open even when put inside a refrigerator. Turning doesn't help much. Better just bend and when there is some gap, use spoon to pry open. Soap may also help.

Independent Stainless Steel reusable Nespresso pod using stickers.

Capmesso clones using stickers.

Sealpod.

Capmesso screwed-in cover come with 3 choices of filter sizes to adjust extraction rate instead of adjusting grind size or dose.

Using resealed original Nespresso pod with 6 g of coffee didn't go well because the sticker finally came off half-way. The edge is curved instead of flat, unlike the steel reusable pods.

Capmesso clone, packed with 7 g, failed to work because the foil was not punctured and the Kfg100 leaked despite sealed with teflon tapes. Easy to remove after pumping cold water.

Using no coffee powder and just cold water, showed the real problems. The aluminium foil is not punctured. Pressure is too low going into the capsule.

Left to right. Empty Capmesso clone. Empty Sealpod clone. Filled Sealpod clone.

At least the Sealpod clones made some impressions on the aluminium foil showing the better seal.

May need thinner foil or those that have no glue at the centre. Prepunchured foil didn't work just like plastic reuseable capsules. Kfg100 cannot work with reuseable capsules.
