Why Cheapest 5-bar Espresso Machines Fail

Image
A good video trying to dial-in a 5-bar Espresso machine. Just as good as drip coffee or Moka pots. Pressure is crucial in extracting the most flavour from coffee. At least 9 bars.  Minipresso is able to achieve this but needs a hard press and pre-heating.

Dialing-in Outin Nano Clone KFG100-001

My clone doesn't have a boiler but I realized it is not essential. I just ordered 12 V 120 W boiler sticks. Can use a car cigarette lighter socket. At home, more economical to use gas stove to boil water. In front are the setup for using Outin Nano Clone,  KFG100-001 to brew coffee. The small glass is used to tamp. The grinder is a USB grinder. Paper Filter on top. The coffee gets WDT treatment and tamped lightly with a small glass. The Outin Nano scope is not provided. 8 g of medium roast Brazil Santos coffee. 30 g out. Paper Filter taken out. The taste of coffee is good and there is some Creme. The biggest problem was the leaks when the grind size is too small or the dose is too high, above 14 g. After watching YouTube reviewers, they recommend from 5-8 g of coffee only. I was able to use an espresso fine grain that I used to dial-in the Dessini CM-14 electric espresso machine using 8 g. Probably the teflon sealing tape did the trick, apart from making it easy to unscrew the con

Dialing-in Dessini CM-14 with Keeletop/ Xeoleo Grinder

Unpressurised creme. Locally roasted Black Panther blend of various countries. Tastes slightly sour but watery and slight bitter. This is 40 g, but should stop at 20 g, and 25 s to reduce watery and bitterness. Just use 2-cup setting to the end. Measured after completion. No time to stop because of filming. Very wide changes but consistent with 10 g beans, 3 times water sprayed. Should be 0.5 g retention, but output is 10 g because of previous grind. A video of the bottomless portafilter using single cup unpressurised basket. As expected from investigation of coffee residue, there is no channelling. Most probably due to the puck screen. https://shp.ee/cy4p5mg Mine was specified as 51 mm, 1.7 mm. Another important function of the puck screen is to clean the shower head of the Espresso machine. Cheaper but less effective is to use a paper coffee filter which can be used for all types of brewing coffee e.g. Moka Cup and even French Press. Should be useful for Minipresso or other portabl

The only Reliable Coffee Grinders

Image
https://shp.ee/bv9yjzx The only reliable Coffee Grinders can be bought from Akiro and ALX. Only these grinders work because the burrs use steel mounts instead of plastic. It's motor is also the only one powerful enough to grind coffee without choking. I compared it's finest setting to the Xeoleo clone grinder at a courser 15 g espresso CM-14 setting. The extraction rate in unpressurized basket was very close. With 8 g, I used the pressurised basket. Taste is reasonable, slight sourly bitter but also slightly watery which I don't like. Hario Skerton Pro Clone This is the cheapest and most reliable coffee grinder, costing less than RM20. The rest are just useless and will not last although costing much more.  It can grind finer than espresso sizes but is tiring. 10 g of coffee can take 30 minutes. It is still useful for portable applications. That is why it is good to have a battery powered grinder but it will cost RM60 but battery powered grinders will not last long becaus

Soft-boiled Eggs using Pressure Cooker

Image
I tried low pressure for 1 minute, natural release for 1 minute with the eggs in water. The eggs were still raw. I need to reboil.  Soft-boiled Eggs https://recipes.instantpot.com/recipe/soft-boiled-eggs/ By : The Rootitoot Cookbook by Ruth McCusker Soft-boiled Eggs I experimented with soft boiled eggs for weeks with many disappointments. They were always overdone. I kept paring the time down; the cook time, then the natural release time. Finally.... I cracked the code! WOO HOO!! I must say though, my results were slightly different in my 6-quart than they were in my 3-quart. They were softer in the 6-quart. So experiment a bit using one egg at a time until you get to the sweet spot just right for you. There are two methods for this. One is for low pressure (my favourite). The other is for high pressure - great for owners of the Lux model.   Course Breakfast ,  Picnic ,  Side Dish   Cuisine Modern   Difficulty Easy   Browse Category Breakfast   Duration 15-30 min   Diet Dairy Free ,
